love you forever.

Max is getting so big.
I know what you're thinking... "they grow so fast!!"
But it's oh so true, it's kind of sad actually. Don't get me wrong, I'm beyond grateful that we have a fast growing-healthy boy... I just know that the older he gets, the more independent he gets. I must admit, I love that he needs me.  It's something that I can't even describe.  It's something I look forward to every morning when we wake up.

Some of my favorite things that Max does now a days:

Rolls from tummy to back. {quite quickly too}.
Pulls binky out of his mouth but doesn't quite get how to put it back in.
Grabs his toes
Talks to himself... a lot
Giggles
Gets angry when you put him down
Loves to stand on your lap {with support, of course}

OH, and he has officially discovered my hair.  Boooooooo.  He pulls out so much of it. haha.  So I decided to cut off 4 inches.  It doesn't really help much but I didn't have the guts to cut more.

Our sweet baby boy will turn 4 months on Sunday.  Absurd.

On another note, no more soda for this girl.  I want to lost weight, and I got a new phone for quitting.  So it was a win-win on my end.  ;)

sick sick sick.

It's not our week over here at our home.
It started Monday night for me.  Had a fever and a awful stomache ache.  Still not sure whether it's food poisoning or the stomache flu.  Felt pretty good Thursday, and this is the day my sweet hubby came home not feeling so hot.  Different symptoms.  Today, afternoonish... I felt bad again.  It's going to be a stay at home kind of a weekend.  Hopefully we're all a-okay for the talks that we're supposed to give Sunday {or hopefully not? :) }  Anyways, there's my vent.  On the bright side, our sweet little Max is perfectly healthy.  No signs of sickness whatsoever.  Let's hope it stays that way!

too good to not share: make your own maxi

So, I came across a blog that had tons of tutorials on how to make your own clothes.  {Mainly sunday-ish outfits i.e. skirts, dresses..} I decided to use the "Make your own Maxi" tutorial and i'm IN LOVE.  I found some fabulous fabric for $1.99/yd and made my skirt out of just 1 yard! The tutorial asks for 2 yards but i didn't want my skirts as flared as hers.  So it worked out for the better because I spent less money and got the look that i wanted.  Here's the blog:

Happy Maxi skirt making :)

p.s. you do not need some mad sewing skills to make these! i'm a beginner and was able to make these no problem!

the first of many.

Wow.  I could not have asked for a better "1st mothers day".  But first, I must brag about my own mom.  She's my best friend.  We have so much fun together but most importantly, she's a great example.  She always has such a cheerful attitude that I wish to be like someday.  {I think it's easier for me to get all grumpy}.  She just doesn't seem to have that attribute. Lucky duck! Also, she's SO talented! She knows how to make anything pretty.  And I really mean anything.  Look below for the amazing arrangment she made for me.  My mother got ME a mother's day gift.  How sweet is that.  I love her so much and I'm so grateful for her and the huge role that she plays in my life.

Now, about my day.  We woke up bright and early to go to church.  Which, by the way, was awesome.  {I love being home by 11am}.  My dear husband made sure that Max was taken care of ALL DAY! {minus the breastfeeding} haha.  He made us lunch.  Delicious grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato soup.  A family favorite.  Then I proceeded to craft and sew away.. baby FREE.  I did all of this while watching the Vow.  I love chick flicks. We all took a nap together as a family.  That was a wondrous occasion.  Afterwords, we headed off to my parents for a BBQ.  It was so much fun to be officially part of the "mom crew".  When we got home, my boys made me some cards.  The one from Max had tons of hand prints on it saying "why he loves his mommy".. my personal favorite is the one that says, "I love my mom because she washes me in the bathtub {even though i have a flat bum} hehe.  Then, my sexy hubs read me a very sweet love poem, where we both ended in happy tears.  I love my little family so much.  It was such a great day.  And I'm so lucky that I get to spend everyday with them.  They make me so incredibly happy.  Being a mom is definately not a walk in the park.  But it's JUST like everyone says.  It's so worth the hard work.

"We are living in a great season for all women in the Church. Sisters, you are an essential part of our Heavenly Father's plan for eternal happiness; you are endowed with a divine birthright. You are the real builders of nations wherever you live, because strong homes of love and peace will bring security to any nation." -Dieter F. Uchtdorf

month birthdays, yeah!

Max is turning 3 months old tomorrow.  Can you believe it?! I know I can't.  It's flying by wayyyy to fast.  Just like they all say.  Last night was so much fun.  Mike and I were playin with our little boy and trying to make him laugh, and guess what?! He did! We were soo excited! It was the cutest thing ever.  {Sorry for the obnoxious laugh and baby talk} haha.  We couldn't be happier over here at the Harrison home & our little family.

"it will be funny.... later...."

This weekend has been such a great one.  And to think, it's not even over yet! :) Friday we just hung out at home as a family {ate dinner, watched movie, got ready for my party, etc}.  It was such a relaxing evening to the end of yet another crazy week.  Saturday morning started nice and early so I could prepare some food for some guests.  {I had been planning to have a clothing swap with some friends}  It turned out sooo good! It was good to chat, and get new {to us} clothes! I definitely think i'll plan another one in the near future! I suggest any young married couple who is looking to not spend money to do this! It was a great way to freshen up your wardrobe without spending money! Mike took Max for the morning which was also a excellent break! When they both got home, Mike told me he was done with his HW {which NEVER happens this early in the day} We decided to go say hi to my parents and we dropped Max off so we could go shoe shopping for Mike.  That night, we took my brother and sister on a "date" to go watch our stake YM&YW do a dance festival. Which, by the way, was fantastic! We then went to Cold Stone to have some ice cream in this warm weather that we have been experiencing.  Now, you're probably wondering about the title of my post... and this is the part of the night where this comes into play...
we had been sitting at the table in Cold Stone, enjoying our evening.  All of the sudden, Mike looks at me and says quietly "look at max..." he kind of had a concerned look on his face so i was scared to see what i would find.  in disgust, i realized my sweet little baby had EXPLODED in his diaper.  And i mean, everywhere! I immediately panicked because my poor baby is sitting in his own waste and was just so grossed out by the fact.  I told the kids that we needed to go right away so we could clean him up.  {this is where i learned that i am suuuch a mom}. As we were walking out to our car, we realized we didn't have our keys. {while i was thinking, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?} I was so frustrated.  This probably doesn't seem like a big deal but i felt SO bad that Max was sitting in the nasty mess and i just wanted to go home so i could fix it.  But we couldn't.  Our keys were sitting right on the drivers seat staring right back at us, doors locked.  ugh. my siblings and i walked over to frys for some diapers and wipes so we could at least start the process.  on the way over there my sweet 9-year old brother says, "this is one of those stories that we can tell and laugh about... later..." i was so glad that he had said that because that's soo true! it kind of changed my attitude for the night because before he had said that i felt like a grump.  my father in law then picked us up and we were able to clean him up! :)

So anyway, that was my "mom freak out moment". Haha.  I feel silly now that I was so upset.  But when you're a mom sometimes you just do that, i guess..

Here's some pics from this last week :)

He's almost 3 months old!!! Crazy how time flies...
